The 250 GTO is one of the most famous and fascinating models in the history of Ferrari. It was introduced in 1962 in response to new sporting regulations that placed great emphasis on GT results. The GTO can be considered an extreme evolution of the 250 GT SWB, which had proved extremely competitive in previous years. The engine was the 2953cc V12, which developed around 300bhp. The bodywork was characterised by extreme aerodynamics and extraordinary overall beauty. The GTO underwent several body updates, with a completely new version presented in 1964. A version with a 4-litre engine was also used in competition.
